What once was old is new again…

I am an avid reader of Knitty.com. A webzine with articles and free patterns for knitters. A few issues ago, I read this article with great interest. “Hmm,” I thought, “That’s a neat idea. I just might have to try that sometime.”
This morning, I’m standing in my closet pondering my boring work clothes and something made me think of the above mentioned article. So I’m digging through my closet now looking for anything that’s knitted that might make a good candidate for a Frankenknit. I did come up with a few ideas (including the sweater I wore today), but I was going to be late for work, so I decided I’d look more later.
Sometimes I will eat lunch at my desk and poke around the few safe sites I can surf while at work. Today, I ended up on whipup.net and was specifically interested in this post. I noticed July’s contest after it was over – too bad. I had a bag I was working on at the time that would have fit in nicely with the theme. But now… the August contest is here and Woo! Something I can actually participate in!
Now, I need another project like I need a hole in my head, but this one has a short time limit, damnit. So if I’m going to enter, I need to get cracking. I generally get things done when I’m on a short schedule. Oh, now I’m all inspired to go digging in my closet again!
Anyway, in other news, I got the Butterfly Quilt back from the quilter’s Saturday and it’s beautiful! All that is left for that project is to sew the binding and label on. I’m actually thinking of entering that one in the State Fair, along with a few other projects that are *shock* finished!
I’m getting a really early start on Christmas this year, too. No more waiting until December to decide I’m going to make people stuff. I have two knitted items and two quilts in line for Christmas gifts for certain people. If you’re reading this and wondering of you’re one of those four people… well.. NEENER! I’M NOT TELLING!
